Maplewood was originally developed as a weekend town for New York residents. The town still maintains its country-home aesthetic. There’s a friendly downtown area locals call “the village” or “Maplewood Center” quaint with its own movie theater, several upscale and mid-scale restaurant, a park and train station. You can access NYC via Morris and Essex Train or the Decamp Bus Lines. Maplewood also offers a local jitney service to the down town train. To the north lies South Orange, known as its sister town because the two towns share a school system as well as many other community services and to the west lies Millburn and the Short Hills Mall. Visit Maplewood NJ to learn more about the community.
